A tragic incident in Gwalior has sparked serious concern over rabies treatment protocols after a 36-year-old man reportedly died from rabies following a dog bite. The victim, Raju Kushwaha, was allegedly administered a tetanus injection instead of the required anti-rabies vaccine at Jayarogya Hospital. Nearly 20 days later, he developed classic rabies symptoms such as hydrophobia and deteriorating health, eventually succumbing to the disease.

According to health experts and the World Health Organization, rabies is a viral infection that affects the central nervous system and is almost always fatal once symptoms appear. The virus spreads through saliva, most commonly via dog bites, scratches, or contact with open wounds. In India, dogs account for nearly 99 percent of human rabies cases.
