The Global Chess League (GCL), a joint initiative by Tech Mahindra and FIDE, announced that Season 4 will be hosted in India, according to a release on May 8. India has consistently delivered packed arenas, vibrant fan zones, and increased digital engagement during previous seasons, reshaping how chess connects with audiences.
The league has introduced a new format to the game, featuring franchise teams, mixed-gender lineups, and rapid-fire matches. More importantly, it has transformed the experience of chess, turning it into a spectacle and a team sport that fans engage with emotionally. India is regarded as the ideal stage for this evolution.
